Job Position: Accountant
We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Accountant who will play a central role in maintaining financial integrity and accountability within the organization.
Position: Accountant
Duty Station: Head Office, Addis Ababa
Reports To: General Account Division Head
Number of Posts: One
Employment Term: One year with a strong possibility of extension
Salary & Benefits: Negotiable and commensurate with experience

Required Qualifications and Experience
To be considered for this opportunity, applicants must possess:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and Finance from a recognized institution.
- A minimum of 4 years of relevant work experience in a similar accounting role, preferably within NGOs or development organizations.
- Proficiency in accounting software and advanced knowledge of MS Excel.
- Strong analytical abilities, attention to detail, and adaptability to dynamic environments.
- A thorough understanding of Ethiopian tax laws, payroll administration, and statutory obligations.

The successful candidate must demonstrate:
- Analytical Skills: Ability to interpret complex financial data accurately.
- Attention to Detail: Precision in preparing reports and reconciling accounts.
- Adaptability: Flexibility to manage competing priorities.
- Accounting Expertise: In-depth knowledge of financial procedures and compliance requirements.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Payroll Management
- Prepare and process accurate payroll for all head office staff in compliance with internal policies and Ethiopian labor laws.
- Reconcile payroll records and ensure that all adjustments are properly authorized and documented.
Statutory Deductions and Compliance
- Administer deductions including income tax, pension contributions, and other statutory obligations, guaranteeing timely settlement and record-keeping.
- Liaise with regulatory authorities to ensure full compliance with all applicable financial regulations.
Tax Reporting and Withholding Tax
- Compile and submit monthly and annual purchase reports to the Ethiopian Revenue and Customs Authority (ERCA).
- Monitor the correct deduction and remittance of withholding taxes in adherence to Ethiopian tax legislation.
Payment Processing
- Prepare payment vouchers and ensure the prompt disbursement of approved payments.
- Maintain accurate records of all transactions to facilitate internal and external audits.
Petty Cash Management
- Oversee petty cash transactions, ensuring adherence to the approved float limit.
- Replenish funds as required and lock the system to prevent duplication.
- Assist with year-end petty cash closing and ensure recovery of any outstanding balances.
