🧫 Role Overview: Junior Microbiologist

Position Title: Junior Microbiologist

🧪 Key Responsibilities and Duties

As a Junior Microbiologist, you will be at the heart of quality control and environmental monitoring. Your work ensures that our production meets both international standards and local regulatory compliance. Core responsibilities include:

1. Sample Collection and Preparation

  • Collect samples of raw materials, excipients, water, and finished products under aseptic conditions as per approved Sampling SOPs.
  • Store collected samples in sterile containers with correct labeling and traceability.

2. Media and Equipment Preparation

  • Prepare bacteriological culture media and sample containers for various tests.
  • Sterilize media, glassware, instruments, and equipment as per SOP guidelines using validated autoclaves.

3. Environmental Monitoring

  • Monitor microbial contamination in production zones by performing:

    • Air sampling

    • Surface swab analysis

    • Microbial hand testing

  • Report any deviation or contamination events and initiate corrective actions in collaboration with senior staff.

4. Support in Laboratory Analysis

  • Assist senior microbiologists in sample inoculation, incubation, and data interpretation.
  • Prepare reports on microbial limits, sterility, and microbial identification tests.

5. Waste Management and Decontamination

  • Decontaminate used culture media, containers, and other lab utensils following environmental safety protocols.
  • Safely dispose of biological waste in accordance with hazardous waste disposal procedures.

6. Record Keeping and Equipment Management

  • Maintain and verify all laboratory records and logbooks.
  • Ensure laboratory instruments are calibrated and switched off after use.

7. Validation and Investigations

  • Participate in process and product validations through environmental sampling and testing.
  • Support OOS (Out of Specification) investigations by providing technical input and microbial data analysis.


📚 Required Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Educational Requirement:

    • Bachelor's Degree in Biology or closely related field.

  • Experience Level:

    • Zero (0) years of experience required – this is an entry-level opportunity ideal for recent graduates.

  • Desirable Skills:

    • Strong attention to detail

    • Knowledge of laboratory safety and hygiene protocols

    • Ability to work in a regulated laboratory environment

    • Familiarity with GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) is a plus
