Join SNV Ethiopia as a Strategic Learning and Knowledge Management (LKM) Advisor

In the rapidly evolving landscape of international development, evidence-based learning and adaptive management have become central to delivering impactful programs. SNV Ethiopia is offering a unique opportunity for a seasoned Learning and Knowledge Management (LKM) Advisor to contribute to a high-impact youth employment program focused on transforming agricultural markets and creating 800,000 dignified job opportunities for rural women in Ethiopia.

If you are passionate about knowledge systems, development transformation, and building capacity for sustainable impact, this role positions you at the heart of change.

About SNV – Transforming Lives Through Innovation and Expertise

SNV is a globally recognized, mission-driven non-profit organization operating in more than 20 countries, with a strong emphasis on agriculture, renewable energy, and water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) sectors. SNV delivers lasting solutions by strengthening institutions, developing inclusive markets, and facilitating policy advocacy.

In Ethiopia, SNV is preparing to launch a comprehensive youth employment initiative backed by donor funding, targeting systemic transformation in agriculture value chains. The upcoming project is grounded in market systems development, focusing on horticulture, dairy, and poultry, while integrating Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) and safeguarding at every level.

Position Overview – What You’ll Do as an LKM Advisor

The Learning and Knowledge Management Advisor will play a critical leadership role in ensuring that the project’s learning agenda is not only well-crafted but also strategically implemented across all operational phases. This is more than a technical role — it is a driver of organizational learning, adaptation, and performance excellence.

Key Duties Include:

  • Designing and executing a Learning and Knowledge Management (LKM) framework rooted in the project’s Theory of Change (ToC).
  • Prioritizing strategic learning questions and embedding reflective practices throughout the program cycle.
  • Leading After-Action Reviews (AARs), Pause-and-Reflect sessions, and inter-partner knowledge-sharing forums.
  • Producing high-quality knowledge products such as learning notes, policy briefs, and case studies.
  • Facilitating cross-learning visits and forming communities of practice among stakeholders and beneficiaries.
  • Promoting internal and external knowledge dissemination using digital knowledge platforms and shared archives.
  • Supporting decision-making through real-time insights, documentation, and continuous feedback loops.
  • Training internal teams and implementing partners in adaptive learning and digital documentation tools.

Why This Role Is Essential for Development Impact

The LKM Advisor is not just a passive recorder of events; they are the catalyst for transformation. In large-scale development programs, learning must be more than a compliance requirement — it must become an engine for evolution. By documenting what works, adapting what doesn’t, and sharing these insights, SNV ensures that it stays agile, relevant, and impactful.

The insights generated by the LKM Advisor will influence donor strategy, local government policy, and private sector engagement, ensuring that the program scales effectively and sustainably.
