Position Title: Data Collector (Field-Based)

Educational Requirements

Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in a related field such as:

  • Statistics
  • Public Health
  • Social Sciences
  • Development Studies
  • Economics

Relevant work experience in data collection is mandatory, with a minimum of 1 year in similar roles. Applicants must be comfortable working in field conditions and dealing with large volumes of survey data.


Areas of Deployment

We are currently hiring 40 qualified individuals to be stationed across the following regions:

  • Guder
  • Debre Birhan / Mollale / Alem Ketema
  • Holeta / Ginchi to Muger
  • Fetche to Gohatsion
  • Ambo
  • Debresina
  • Sululta to Melketuri
  • Tafo to Sheno
  • Burayu to Menagesha
  • Sebeta / Dimma

Key Responsibilities

The selected Data Collectors will:

  • Conduct field-based data collection using digital tools like SurveyCTO and ODK.
  • Ensure accuracy, completeness, and integrity of all data collected.
  • Work under the guidance of supervisors and project managers to achieve data collection goals on time.
  • Translate survey tools and responses where necessary in Amharic and Affan Oromo.
  • Uphold strict standards for confidentialitydata security, and professional conduct during interactions with participants.
  • Perform data reviews to verify accuracy before submission.
  • Regularly report progress, challenges, and updates to field coordinators.

Required Skills and Competencies

To be successful in this role, candidates must demonstrate:

  • Proficiency in SurveyCTO and ODK platforms
  • Fluency in Amharic, Affan Oromo, or both, with strong translation abilities
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage data integrity and ensure error-free entries
  • Strong interpersonal skills and cultural sensitivity
  • Capacity to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to travel and walk long distances during data collection days
  • Flexibility and availability during early mornings, weekends, or extended hours when required


Start Date and Availability

All selected candidates should be available for deployment starting Saturday, June 21, 2025. Field training and tool orientation will be provided before assignment.


Contract Type and Work Conditions

  • Short-term contractual agreement based on project duration
  • Competitive daily rate compensation based on experience and region
  • Tools and devices required for data collection will be provided (if applicable)
  • Applicants must be physically fit to manage outdoor activities and extensive travel within the assigned area
