Position Overview
Job Title: Cashier/Storekeeper
Duty Station: Shebedino, Sidama
Contract Type: Regular Employment (with a probation period of 60 working days)

The Cashier/Storekeeper plays a pivotal role in managing cash transactions, safeguarding fuel coupons, maintaining store inventory, and ensuring compliance with internal financial and material control procedures. This position requires accuracy, timeliness, and an unwavering commitment to organizational policies.
Essential Qualifications and Professional Experience
Education Requirements:
- A Diploma in Accounting from a recognized institution.
Work Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of proven experience in cashiering and storekeeping, preferably within an NGO context where adherence to humanitarian standards and donor compliance is critical.
Language Proficiency:
- Proficiency in spoken and written English is mandatory.
- Familiarity with local languages of the intervention area will be considered an added advantage.
Technical Skills:
- Demonstrated ability to operate computerized accounting systems.
- Competence in maintaining accurate bin cards, fuel coupon records, and cash ledgers.
Primary Responsibilities and Key Deliverables
Cash and Coupon Management:
- Maintain and safeguard cash funds and fuel coupons with strict accountability.
- Prepare daily bank deposits and ensure all cash collections are deposited intact the next working day.
- Issue official receipts for every transaction, maintaining transparency and compliance with audit requirements.
- Prepare checks and bank transfers for authorized payments, ensuring prompt disbursements.
Store Operations and Inventory Control:
- Receive, verify, and record the quantity and quality of incoming materials in alignment with organizational policies.
- Store items systematically and issue materials based on verified requests and guidelines.
- Maintain up-to-date stock cards and bin cards, ensuring accurate balances and periodic reconciliations.
- Keep the store environment organized, secure, and clean to prevent loss or damage.
Reporting and Compliance:
- Compile periodic reports detailing cash balances, coupon usage, and inventory status.
- Monitor and report inventory levels to anticipate reorders and avoid stock-outs.
- Uphold internal control systems to safeguard organizational resources and ensure compliance with donor regulations.
Other Duties:
- Execute any other relevant responsibilities assigned by the supervisor to support smooth project operations.
